Kathryn's Approach to Teaching
Creating a safe space where students feel free to find awareness, investigate the human condition, explore, and be present in every moment is critical. One of the most exciting aspects of studying acting is the ability to explore those places in ourselves that need a little boost: building confidence, public speaking, and learning to see ourselves in new ways. We will explore on-your-feet learning through self and partnered exercises pulling from the teachings of Viola Spolin, Paul Sills, Uta Hagen, and Sanford Meisner. From the basics of harnessing actor awareness through the senses to building backgrounds of Uta Hagen to understanding the natural flow of action/reaction, focus, and "the moment before," with Sanford Meisner. These techniques will bring your performances to life.
