Katie's Approach to Teaching

My approach to accent modification is rooted in flexibility, choice, and authenticity. As an actor, your accent is part of your unique instrument—not something that needs to be erased. Together, we’ll develop the skills to modify your accent when a role calls for it while maintaining the ability to return to your natural speech when it serves you.

Meet Katie Alea

Katie Alea began her career in speech therapy in 2016 and earned her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2019. Before pursuing speech-language pathology, she studied acting in college and was signed with a talent agency, giving her firsthand experience with the dedication, training, and unique demands of the entertainment industry.

By combining her background in acting with her clinical expertise, Katie built a career specializing in helping actors develop stronger, healthier, and more versatile speaking voices. She works with performers to improve vocal health, speech clarity, articulation, and overall vocal performance, empowering them to communicate with confidence both on and off the stage or screen.

A key area of Katie’s practice is accent modification for actors. She helps performers expand their vocal versatility and reduce the likelihood of being limited to characters written for a specific accent.
